Yeah These Are It - Sound Proof Headphones Review

By Dylan Martinez

You can't go wrong with Sennheiser! We replaced a cheaper item with the Sennheiser RS 180 Digital Wireless Headphone System. He has done a disservice to his company, in my opinion. In conclusion, you won't be disappointed with the quality of sound and comfort of the 180's -- top notch.

The headphones are rather large and ugly, but not heavy or uncomfortable. I can wear them for hours with no particular discomfort -- though in warmer weather, I might have a different opinion. Good instructions and it looks very sleek and modern. Works fantastic. On the other hand, if the earphone charging station and transmitter were separated, I guess they might both need AC power, which would increase the cost of the unit. There is also a split-second delay between the time you hear something on the TV speakers, and the time you hear the same thing on the headphones. With a bit more smarts, the headphones could be made to standby in a low power mode, then ramp up when it detected a signal from the transmitter. Maybe that's too much to ask for the price. They look great. They are a sleek charcoal/black and the charging cradle looks very cool and saves a little bit of desk space instead of having to lay down a giant pair of headphones like I used to. The RS 160 didn't have enough RANGE to cover my home, and wanted the increased range and AGC (automatic gain control) to tame loud passages. I am thrilled with the new RS 180!

Everything is well designed and well-constructed. It all feels very solid. There are a lot of controls that take some getting used to, but once you learn where the controls are it's easy to adjust the volume, etc. These are over the ear, open style with velour pads which makes for very comfortable listening.

Once opened, it's clear that the makers thought of everything; from the various country-specific power adapters, to the cord organizer. You will not be left wanting with these headphones.

Two of them were such a pain to use I threw them in the trash. The third one stopped working after about 6 months of use.

I can listen at any level I wish and no one is disturbed. In addition, the sound quality is superb. Battery life was great; the original batteries are still going strong. The Sound I thought was great. So, that's probably an unavoidable issue. However, all my complaints combined don't add up to the loss of a full star.
