Steps To Build That High Quality Disc

By Jane Claire

Replicating and duplicating of data can only be done by someone for you once you hand over a DVD or CD disc. The procedures on how to achieve that great sounding disc are the following:

1. A disc which offers a high performance can only come from a media which also has the same quality. So, you must do everything you can to search for that media. Buy only a disc of a brand that has been in the industry for years to have no regrets once the burning is completed.

2. Avoid copying from a network source. If the source files for your disk are on a network drive, copy the files to your local disk before you burn a disc. If you can't move the files to your local drive, try using the copy to hard drive first feature. When doing this, your burning software will create a temporary image file during the burning process. Once the burning has been completed, the temporary file will be deleted.

3. Your laptop should not be used in the duplication when its battery is almost out of power. The battery might create fluctuations which will result your CD to have unacceptable performance.

4. Always make sure that you finalize your disc. If you fail to finalize, the disc won't play back. Finalizing will also help increase the reading compatibility in other CD-ROM drives.

5. Packet writing is a big NO when it comes to copying your files to a disc. It may be applicable to CDs which allows you to rewrite data but it limits the discs capacity to be read by various drives for CD-ROM.

6. Avoid any type of impact or movement of the drive during burning. Doing so can cause the laser to skip or jump tracks, which will lead to errors or a bad disc.

7. If available, use the "burn-proof" feature. This feature will allow the drive to slow down the burn speed in the event the computer can't supply the data fast enough. Although this can increase the burn time, the quality of the disc will be much better.

8. Several programs should be inactive while duplicating your files to a CD. Using the Web and network sharing can actually delay the burning process. So, they should be turned off while the operation is going on.

Putting the mentioned steps in mind would allow you to achieve that great CD of high quality. Everyone prefers listening to perfectly done tracks from a disc so it's only right for you to do all the necessary precautions.
