The Pleasures Of The Kids Pottery Wheel

By Jerry Benson

There is a lot of fun to be had with the Kids Pottery Wheel. Slowed down only by the imagination, this can keep children occupied for hours on end. The key is to give them ideas to help them to continue playing with the clay on the wheel, such as enticing them with an array of colors they will be able to paint their finished piece with.

Kids love getting their hands dirty, so it should be no problem to get them to try this toy out. Start him thinking on whom he can make something for. Could the uncle use another ashtray? Or how about making a bowl for grandma? How about a tea set for his sister's dolls? Suggestions such as these will get him thinking.

Working on the wheel will encourage the creative juices and get the imagination of the child flowing. Always encourage a child to use his imagination. His artwork may not be a masterpiece today, but properly encouraged he could grow up to be a famous artist.

Where your child sets up to do his work is important. It needs to be a place where if there is a spill, it can be cleaned up without any problems. You do not want him using this wheel in a room with a white carpet. Over a tile floor would be the easiest to clean were an accident to occur.

If he is old enough to work on a wheel, he will be old enough to clean up his mess. Two year old children clean their room, so this should be a piece of cake for your child. Teach him what he needs to know. He will be pleased to show you he is a big boy and can follow your directions. Cleaning up after himself will also make him feel more accomplished, besides making it easier for you.

Display his artwork in a special place where friends and family can appreciate what he has done. This type of encouragement will help him in school also. When he is assigned creative work he will be inclined to succeed, having done so in the past with this craft. His creative mind can lead to future jobs, or even a business, so continue to encourage it, and then enjoy the work of your child.
