Distinguishing Between Animation and Multimedia

There is an increased interest in multimedia courses. This is because a person who has been trained in multimedia can find work in a wide variety of different career paths. Each course will cover a different facet of multimedia and which one you do will depend on what you want to accomplish.

Multimedia courses can target a whole facet or smaller areas within those facets. The larger areas of focus are web design, digital audio, video production, 3D modelling and animation. Visual design entails the general layout of a page, be it a webpage or document or flyer or advertisement so that it is easier for readers to see what is important and what is just extra information. The primary areas of visual design are to create a visual hierarchy of information so that it is clear what is most important at a glance, define the functional regions of the page and to group the content so that there is definite structure to the page.

Multimedia is further divided into linear and non linear. Movies are linear, since viewers can only watch them but when an element of interface is infused into the multimedia like in case of games wherein the viewer participates and controls the progress of the action, it is classified as non-linear.

Professional are able to combine various techniques of different media in a way that enables viewer to participate. It is also used in cinema with opera and all type of digital media. It can also be used in traditional way in fine arts and can be displayed in art gallery. One big advantage of multimedia is that one can reproduce perfect copies of any presentation every time.
