The Wedding First Dance is Special for All

By Susan Todd

The first dance by the married couple is a special moment for everybody. The ceremony is finished, a delicious meal has been consumed, and it is time for the dancing festivities. Sometimes, the newly married couple is totally happy, but totally tense about this first dance.

Unless the couple is exceedingly extroverted, relish the idea of being the center of attention, or really, really good at dancing, the newly married couple is probably going to be nervous about the first dance. While you want to dance with your partner, dancing in front of a bunch of people isn't easy. All eyes are on you. Will you screw up that people will see? Will something go unexpected?

Here's the scoop though, the wonderful thing about the first dance for your visitors is not necessarily your dance. Naturally, the guests will gather around in excited anticipation. However if one was to look around, you would see the couples holding hands, drinking in the music, and reminiscing about their first dance at their wedding. They will think about the love they have for their partner and the love that the newly married couple has. They'll think about how your life will be going forward and wishing you the happiness that they've had in their own marriage. It's a magnificent reminiscent moment for all present.

Will they be observing every step? No. Will they notice if something "goes wrong"? Probably not.

Should you be anxious? You shouldn't. You should choose a wedding first dance song that's truly meaningful to you and your better half. You need to dance the dance that you wish to dance and remember. While the dance is going on, you should have eyes only for your better half and relish in this most special moment for both of you. And, when you go to your next friend's wedding, you'll be in the crowd, reminiscing about your own special first dance while wishing them the very best in life.
