EVA Airlines And Its Catapult To Fame And Dominance

By Esteban Consuela Xavier

The notoriety of certain airlines has resulted from their good business decisions despite their size. A little over 20 years in age, EVA Air is an airline that fits into this category. This airline initially only serviced countries close to Taiwan, but has expanded on an international basis. What is impressive about EVA is they entered into the international competition quite soon after they opened their doors. This airline is one of the few that is privately funded only. History clearly shows that this airline, EVA, was bound and determined to get to the top every year.

EVA had a tiring year in 2010, according to many aspects. They had expanded routes and management changes as well as bids for even more partnerships. By way of a new service route to Toronto, the company was able to set up additional inroads for cities in Canada. Then later in the year they added a connecting flight from Taipei to Tokyo Japan. Taken as a whole, the year was potent as the company accounted that their annual profits had progressed. There will be an anticipation of new development aptitudes in the midway. The reason for that is EVA has submitted their application with the Star Alliance of associated airlines. As soon as that is approved, then there will be even better things taking place with EVA.

EVA is an airline that has many subtle facets throughout the travel industry. Worldwide distribution of products goes through their EVA Air Cargo subdivision. They have many different partnerships, one of which is with Evergreen which handles shipping on land and sea. Shipping cargo is not limited to only a few resources. Operations that are short in duration, specifically in regard to freight hauling, is taking care of locally as well near Taiwan. EVA also has an aviation engineering service, airline leasing service and various aviation ground services.

Boeing was contracted by EVA to make long haul airliners for their fleet back in the 90s. Flights from LA to California on their Boeing 747-400 was suddenly possible. Affordable premium economy class cabins were a highlight of EVA's rise to fame. They even included additional legroom in their airliners for passengers. Customers loved their service because of the additional services and comfort level while flying. In the ensuing years including 1993, they began regular flights to New York, Seattle Washington, Vienna Austria and Bangkok Thailand.

Though based in Asia, EVA Air is always seeking to maintain and grow their international presence. Travel has never been better for those in Europe and Asia because of the business and economy travel packages that they offer. Fuel costs crippled EVA badly several years ago when the price of oil spiked and the cost of jet fuel went up with it. However, they were able to respond with appropriate cost-cutting measures to help minimize damage. Though it happens from time to time, airlines usually suffer the most because of how much fuel they need for their business to operate. So that is truly not a bad performance for a smallish airline from the small country of Taiwan.
